captain textbook!

well at 7months the major thing to happen is you start getting teeth!

yep the first tooth came! like the legend himself no one saw where this post was going! but you can see the effects of the tooth coming through apart from being a grumpy fecker who had a mixture of bonjela and baby cocaine which is a white powder that you put on the tongue and it numbs them just like cocaine! but cheaper!



so aptly armed with bonjela and baby coke we waged a war on keeping the baby happy during this turbulent time.  it didn't last long though until it came through and everything settled down again.  for those babies with sensitive skin its a stressful time so double up on the creams to keep any flare ups down.

development

so here are a few things we've noticed with the bubba over the last week or so

firstly his balance when sitting down on the floor has improved massively, he doesn't fall over much at all and if he does he can stop himself with his hands.  He's a lot steadier now so we've tried helping him stand up he's not quite ready for it but I don't think it will be long.

most of his talky noises have been when he's sleepy but when he's having a nice time he does smile and laugh a lot.  although he has been babbling and he can say mamam when hes crying which is cute as its really clear.  But today when I came in from work I went into the living room n called him n he beamed and then was really vocal saying bababa.

He recognises who people are and he knows who is family are and things like that but now when his mummy leaves the room he knows shes gone and cries.



its short and sweet the time is flying by and we can see how he's changing everyday.  We have lots of things to look forward to  in the coming months.

7 months

so a pre amble my missus is lovely but sometimes she comes out with funny things and lately she's been a mumzilla and I have a funny story to go with it.

so it all started recently as we are planning bubbas first birthday, which takes lots of planning as he's a baby socialite.



we are really excited for his first birthday and have booked a nice play area that does finger food and a sensory area its awesome! the problem arouse when planning and making sure all his baby friends and family could come



enter the copycat! a source of annoyance and rage because my missus hunts out play areas like a sniffer dog finds drugs this means some others in the group sit back BUT the downfall of the copycat is that their party is after ours! cue evil laugh as ours will be better and first .

not to derail from the precious memories that we have made so far but another bee in the proverbial bonnet of my mrs is a local baby group is looking for a baby to be the face, now only a slight exaggeration but harry is well known as a happy smiley baby and an example of this is I took him to the library and the woman behind the desk said she recognised him and he was really smiley last time he came.  so the point of this is that he does this where ever he goes laughs and smiles except when he's tired then he grumbles.  so the on to the "bee" another baby at the same class doesn't smile or do much during the session except at the key moment all the babies entering wore special t-shirts for the group and had a picture taken. a slight role reversal our bubba grumbles as hes tired and the other beams a smile and another source of annoyance is born.



an well end with a nice thing over the school hols me and the bubba went out for a walk round a local park and it went really well! he woke up happy half way round in a good mood and smiled all the way round we went to the café for breakfast and to warm up and then on the way home he slept for ages and when I go part time well do lots more!



gagging and choking!  if ur baby is 6months and over chances are you've started looking at feeding him solid foods now its a scary prospect but its worth knowing that a babies gag reflex is a lot further forward to stop them from choking, this doesn't mean they cant choke.

to put your mind at ease have finger food that will dissolve in the mouth corn rings and wafers all help hand eye coordination as well as being fun!

so looking ahead new things are happening! and for the canny readers its in the title!

so first things first his nanny bought him some wafers that are flavoured and feel like prawn crackers and melt on the tongue so they aren't a choking hazard and he loves them!  the other good thing is that it helps with his eating and using his hands double bonus!



this is because the gag reflex is at the front of the mouth and while he can eat toast etc he's not quite ready and its set his reflex off and its on the ban list until he learns to chew properly along with banana.

now on to our second item on the agenda. I've only just seen the magic cup and it is indeed magic!

this kid is like OMG its not coming out! and here's why it has no spout but the top is like a suction cup when u suck u move the rubber and the liquid comes out  so no pressure no liquid! genius! also means u cant drench ur self great for pissed up parents lol

so final furlong he has started getting white spots on his gums which are teeth! as hes gurning loads more know and he looks like this

 yea we call that his beaker face! its very funny

so here is something that I recently thought of (while writing this in fact) each post will have something I've recently learnt that I can pass on and todays subject is head thrashing. for those of you with babies that do lots of this it can mean one of several things.

1 ear infection - check temp if high its quite likely
2 new skill - no worries!
3 tiredness - some repetitive movement are used to self soothe and help them sleep
4 autism - although this comes with other signs such as no eye contact or babbling so if ur baby is doing the others its probably not this

6 months

well its flown by (and this is a few days late) but we've made it to the 6month mark. so I thought id recap with a few things that are happening new and old

1. still not sleeping well its been roughly 2 months since this saga kicked off and its still going strong although as I sit here typing this he's having a mammoth sleep which spells disaster for the night shift. we have recently seen a shift and he's started doing a big sleep early evening, around 4 hours although this may not happen tonight.

2. he's graduated to the next class at baby sensory! and the person running it says she's his favourite! which is really nice. hes also started another class which is messy play which he loves.

3 he's eating lots of different fruit n veg pouches which he loves, mainly because he's a greedy fecker!

   

4 you may have also noticed that your baby has started to develop a distinctive shape and my lil bubba has what we call a solid base because he has massive legs.  they are so big that he is wearing the next size up trousers! to accommodate his freakishly large thighs.

5 his normal routine for a morning consists of getting up watching a film (or finishing one, we are currently watching trolls) then breakfast at 9ish. one day whilst sat in his chair on the kitchen counter I ran the tap and he turned and stared at it like a rabbit in some headlights but this has happened on more than 1 occasion since then. I've ran the tap in other rooms and as soon as it turns on he can hear the sound and then looks for it, its very comical.

6 something else that's new he's got lots of new baby friends, which is really sweet the downside is he's turning into abit of a bully, recent examples of this are whilst on a play date with his friends he grabbed one every time he was placed in the play area and stole another's doll.
 

7 he generally does this


8 he can officially go swimming!  which is so kool we've got waterproof nappies to stop any accidents and a rubber ring for him to sit in!

9 I've done my first solo flight and had to look after him without any boobies which is a big deal as 9 times out of 10 its boobies that calm him down.  so I spent a whole night with not much sleep while I had to sort him out every 2 hours give or take! ill be doing it again this weekend but hes on more foods so I'm better prepared I also have a new secret weapon bottles that are closer to boobies! if they don't work nothing will.

10 back to bodily fluids! coughing makes him laugh not sure why but he laughs when he coughs or other people cough.

so nothing more pleasing than a list of things or a top 10.  I was going to finish with something insightful but whilst my bubba lays on the floor  "belting the shit out of mummy" to quote the missus I've gone blank so ill end with that

seasons greetings

seasons greetings! its boxing day and lots of things to report!

firstly we hit the 5month mark 1 week ago. the major downside is that he still refuses to do a decent length of time asleep hopefully another 3 weeks or so and it will sort itself out as he is the textbook baby!

we've introduced baby porridge and purees into the mix as well as boiled and cooled water, which he loves.  he can near enough use a spoon for splattering food over his clothes n face before whats left of it finds his mouth and he can grip n drink for his tommee tippee cup which ends in him being a little wet after but he thinks its super funny.

and then it was Christmas


with his super strong grip and plenty of help he pretty much managed to open all his presents himself obviously hes not dexterous enough to do it all I helped by twisting them so the wrapper came off.  he was also in a really pleasant mood all day until  7pm when he turns into the devil.

he got a jumper-roo to sit n bounce in which he loves and we got a machine for steaming and prepping his food once he moves on from baby rice n purees so we can make them ourselves which will be a huge money saver and fun!

overall Christmas was a great success  lots of pictures and smiles we also kept up the tradition of buying a crap Christmas decoration for our tree which is a 1 eyed reindeer with sticks for horns. he has started using more interactive toys with lots of lights and noises and things that he can touch which is great so much has changed so quickly!
